Welcome to my review of the DX Stinger Drill [スティンガードリル] from Jukou B-Fighter [重甲ビーファイター]!
I've said it many times before and I'll say it again--B-Fighter has the coolest toys. The Stinger Blade set that I reviewed previously (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDprkswB_4o) got high marks from me despite some people making bizarre complaints that a child's toy isn't big enough. Right. When Blue Beet was given his Stinger Drill upgrade, Bandai followed suit and provided us with the same Stinger Drill for our Stinger Blade aswell. So how is it?
The Stinger Drill comes with a manual crank handle base and that's all. It is a nice gesture since this allows the Stinger Drill to be a stand-alone toy. However, to get the most out the Drill you're going to want to own the Stinger Blade Set. The manual crank function works as well as you can get it to work...so there's that. When you attach it to the Stinger Weapon base, this toy suddenly becomes complete. The C-Battery powered seamless spinning of the Stinger Weapon is something to behold. I should mention that the two halves of the drill spin in opposite directions. This is something that is kinda hard to make out in the video, especially in the higher speed setting, but it's a nice little feature to bring a little more realism to the toy.
Downsides? Maybe it could have been a smidge bigger. My argument for keeping the attachments that come with the Stinger Weapon smaller is that they were already quite off-balance in their current size. The Stinger Drill really can't be off balance...so it could've been a tiny bit bigger.
This is definitely one to get if you have a Stinger Blade Set already. I managed to get this one brand new for very very very cheap, so there is really no reason not to have it if you have the Stinger Blade in your collection. The American version for Big Bad Beetleborgs is 100% the same toy, so no worries about which one you get if you're not hung up on packaging.
B-Fighter Month 1 of 2015 is coming to a close. Next time I look at DX Mega Hercules and briefly revisit the Popynica Beet Machines!
