New Moons mark the beginning of a new cycle. Each New Moon brings with it a download of evolutionary energies. The new year has begun with a new Moon and it’s been a rare New Moon for several reasons. Having a New Moon on Jan 1st has only occurred 12 times in the past 300 years! Also that one was a Super New Moon, meaning that it was very close to the Earth, it can appear as much as 14 percent larger in the sky and 30 percent brighter to our eyes than the normal moons. It is a time when the ocean tides become larger and stronger as the closeness of the Super New Moon affects the Earth. And I guess I was affected, too.. Although we have two New Moons of Jan, and the Full Moons of Jul, Aug and Sep, the New Moon on Jan 1st, has been the closest one we will have in 2014. We won’t have a single calendar month with two Supermoons again until January 2018. Thank you to all the artists who got me inspired for this ride!
